Self-Mailers: Celestial / Fungi

What’s better than getting a really, truly Letter From a Pal? A few things; not many. These portfolios come with 18 stationery sheets that can be neatly removed, folded into thirds along scored lines, sealed on the sides and flap with cute included stickers, and mailed (with your own stamp) without an envelope. Outrageously gorgeous illustration on the themes of Forever Moonlight come by way of Oksana Badrak, Giorgia Brugnoli, and Irene Rinaldi, with work for Mushrooms Forever coming from Olivia Heart, Amber Ma, and Tess Smith-Roberts. Each artist’s style is meant to complement the others’, stand out as distinct from the two sharing its title and from the three artists in the companion title, support the visual standards of the brand while also suggesting modern initiatives, adhere to postal regulations… and oh yes, be amazing, please!

It was outrageously fun and ridiculously stressful trying to coordinate the art for this project; the abundant freedoms and concurrent restrictions made my eyes cross. It’s satisfying to remember the complications, but reciting them out loud recalls the beige torture of director’s commentary on DVDs (remember those?), which I inevitably regretted listening to. They always want to talk about setting up the shot! They care so much! I get it. But I don’t want to hear about it, sorry to this man.
